Tom Gill graduated from UPEI in 1972 with a BA in History and Economics, BEd. In 1973 he received a graduate diploma in Industrial Education from the University of Alberta in 1975. He taught school and ran Gill Construction for 15 years. After an increased construction demand, Mr Gill started full time in construction in 1990. His son Carson graduated from UPEI with a BA in 1999. After having worked at Gill Construction from the age of 14, he decided to make a career in the construction industry. Carson completed his carpentry training and received his license in 2000 and is now co-owner of the established business.
 
Gill Construction has a very stable workforce with many of their carpenters and construction foreman with the company for 10 to 20 years. They include every facet required for a completed project from initial planning to final landscaping. They have also worked with many of the same sub-contractors for over 20 years, contractors that are dependable and will do a first rate job of seam-filling, painting, plumbing and all the other needs to have a totally completed and beautiful project.
