A hospital patient in eastern PEI gets the wrong medication, or none at all, about once every three days.

“(Patient) not given meds during the day, found on night round to be congested in chest, pain in legs,” reads one incident report released to The Graphic through a Freedom of Information request. “Physician notified, family member not happy with level of care. Dressings not done, saturated by 1930.”

In another case: “Blood glucose level misreported as 7.1 to RN by RCW, actual sugar 21.0. (Doctor) notified immediately, orders received for stat insulin dosage.”

A total of 122 reports were made between October 2011 and October 2012.

The reports are categorized into different levels of severity. The ones above were Level 3, in which case a mistake is made and the patient suffers minor injury.
