Island Press Ltd invites Islanders to participate in their fundraising efforts for Relay for Life by purchasing a cookbook dedicated in honour of people and families who have been touched by cancer.

Both The Eastern Graphic and West Prince Graphic have Relay for Life teams and the cookbook is a way to involve the people in Island communities, advertising consultant Barb Mazerolle said.

“We want their stories, we want their family members to be honoured,” she said.

“We wanted to put a personal touch on the campaign and put a face to the people.”

Islanders can submit a recipe along with a picture and short biography of the person they choose to honour.

As well, the cover of the cookbook features pictures from past Relay for Life events.

One entry Island Press has received is in memory of Annie (Matheson) Cobb-Jones, from Forest Hill.

She baked her first cake at age eight for her father, three brothers and field hands, and there was “not a crumb left afterwards.”

The “Dash of Courage” cookbook will cost $19.95 and a portion of the proceeds from the sale of each book will be donated to Relay for Life to support cancer research.

Copies can be reserved now but no money is due until the books are published.

Biographies should be no more than 75 words and people are urged to submit their recipes as soon as possible.
